Review: (#1, B) From a distance, this design looks a bit like a bookcase, which ties well into the background of the central figure. It also uses strong colors that make it feel visually appealing without having a lot of detail.
(#2, C+) The visual alignment of background figures help elevate this somewhat bland poster design.
Trailer Rating: C+ / C+

Review: (#1, C+) There isn’t a lot to this trailer. The plot’s a bit muddied, but a few things come immediately to attention. The parents being roughly the same age as or younger than the main character comes through quite well, linking to the plot, but that doesn’t give enough information to the viewer. That lack of specificity might hurt in drawing an audience to the film.
(#2, C+) The premise isn’t given nearly enough attention in this second trailer, which plays up the romantic elements, but struggles to hit at the emotional weightiness of the subject matter.
Oscar Prospects:
While it performed well at the festivals, the concept doesn’t seem like it’s within the Academy’s wheelhouse. It could still get some nominations, but Andrew Haigh hasn’t broken through yet.
