Synopsis:

From IMDb: “Follows the history of shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro, and how he led Nike in its pursuit of the greatest athlete in the history of basketball: Michael Jordan.”

Review: (#1) There’s little about this design that speaks to the film’s content. It requires knowledge of the film itself to convey that interest.

(#2) The individual character inserts don’t seem to have any rhyme or reason to their shape or placement, which makes it a challenging design to appreciate. (#3) A solid design that is nevertheless overly simplistic and visually unstimulating. (#4-#11) These character posters are just shots from the film and apart from a few touch-ups, they aren’t anything special and those that are touched-up (Jason Bateman) look a bit unrealistic. (#12) With the shoe-tip motif (or perhaps its the edge of a Nike Swoosh), it adds some depth, but not a lot of personality. (#13) This is similar to the prior design, but significantly less compelling.

Review: Apart from parading some very prominent actors and very ably presenting the entire plot of the film, it’s still one of those treatments that struggles to find an audience.

Oscar Prospects:

It’s been awhile since Ben Affleck directed anything and his last film was a flop, so it’s hard to say if this will change his fates. If he’s back at the top of his game, maybe. If not, then it can safely be ignored.
