Review: (#1, C+) It’s a gorgeous tableau, but that’s not likely to sell the viewers as it doesn’t say enough about the content of the film. At least not enough to be broadly appealing. (#2, C-) This dry design has lots of snowy whiteness, but that’s not interesting. (#3, C+) Another beautiful vista with some compelling composition, which is what Ceylan’s fans enjoy, but its painterly qualities won’t be appealing enough to general audiences.
Trailer Rating: C+

Review: While the visuals are truly stunning, there’s not enough definition to the narrative in the trailer to give the viewer an interest in the characters’ plights.
Oscar Prospects:
Ceylan’s films have always been a niche for critics, but not for Academy voters.
