Review: (#1) Stark, but unimpressive. This blocky design has little of excitement and only those already familiar with the film will get any information out of this design, which won’t help put butts in the seats.
(#2) Compartmentalizing your poster design works when you have a lot of stirring images to display in a creative layout, but here we just have character portraits blended together with a couple of set pieces that aren’t terribly exciting.
Trailer Rating: B / B-

Review: (#1) Although the premise presented in the trailer comes off as rudimentary and predictable, the content doesn’t seem to follow that line of thinking. There are some interesting elements here and I can only hope the film is better than the trailer. If so, it could be a very good one.
(#2) There isn’t much that’s been added since the first trailer, certainly not enough to make it seem more interesting rather than less. That’s the hazard of tinkering with a trailer design. The importance of this figure isn’t as prominent as it should be.
Oscar Prospects:
Chadwick Boseman will once again be in play for an Oscar nomination, but will he once again be ignored? It depends how both critics and audiences react to the film. If it’s a hit, he could be nominated. If it isn’t, critics could save him by giving him plenty of year-end kudos, but I suspect that won’t occur.
