Review: There’s a lot of color here, but a lot of traditional elements that don’t precisely work any longer.

Review: (#1) This is the second film trailer this year for a film set during the waning days of the Ottomon Empire. This love triangle film has some appeal thanks to its cast, but it also feels like a movie that is warring with itself regarding what stand it wants to take on the historical events.
(#2) It’s always amazing to me when a new trailer comes out that ultimately makes a film look worse than it originally did. Does that mean the film is bad and you can’t sell it well? Or does it mean the original tack didn’t work very well so they are trying another. Either way, this focus on the romance elements of the script don’t make it look that much more interesting in spite of the talent involved.
Oscar Prospects:
When it was scheduled for 2016, it seemed like an obvious Oscar contender. That it’s not opening until April makes it seem like a non-starter.
