A three-way tie for most nominations showcase a fairly even match this year. Arrival did better in the creative categories while Moonlight did well in the upper categories. La La Land seemed to be evenly recognized across all category areas. The Animated Feature list looks like the one Oscar may choose while most of the top-line nominees are performing strongly enough to merit consideration. Although Loving hasn’t gotten a lot of love this Oscar season, director Jeff Nichols gets an uncharacteristic mention in that field when his film isn’t up for Best Picture at all.
