Review: Yeah. We get it. Big giant, blocky hand in a boxing glove. The titular Hands of Stone. Not a very unique selection, nor is it very artistic.

Review: (#1) If you’ve seen this kind of film before, the trailer features just enough warning bells to put you on guard. Even so, with the likes Edgar Ramirez, Robert De Niro, and Usher on hand, it looks just a bit better than the standard fare.
(#2) The optics of this trailer aren’t the greatest, the rivalry between Roberto Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard might be the stuff of legend, but it’s not necessarily the right movie for this time in history. That doesn’t prevent the movie from looking like your standard, potentially entertaining boxing drama.
(#3) The obviousness of this Red Band trailer’s intent is strange. Two partial and limited sex scenes, rather than foul language, are given up amidst weak conveyances of plot. It’s a targeted but inconsequential trailer.
Oscar Prospects:
The August release suggests it won’t be a contender even it looks like they are gearing up for a Rocky-type push.
