Review: (#1-#4) These four posters don’t seem to have enough going for them. You can tell (barely) who they are, but it doesn’t give one much interest in the film itself.

(#5) I’m not sure that this fits the style of the film itself, but it’s a vivid and expressive design that certainly exudes style even if it focuses on elements that have been used far too frequently, such as the inverted cityscape. (#6) A fractured, but stylistically semi-original. It could have and should have created a more compelling visual force. (#7) A traditional, but graphically intense design. There’s plenty for someone to pick up in a casual pass, but detailed enough to give someone more attentive plenty to look at. (#8) It’s a fairly common artistic style now that doesn’t give the design nearly as much life as it hoped, but is still impressive enough to feel fresh.

Review: (#1) How do you find a story in this trailer that looks compelling to an audience. While the film has a strong cast, the trailer doesn’t do an adequate job setting audience expectations up enough to make them enthused for the outcome.

(#2) We’ve now moved beyond trying to get the audience to watch the film for a compelling narrative and trying to focus on getting them into the seat based on the promise of conflict and action. Kevin Costner’s character has gone from crass, indignant criminal to compassionate host without all the messy details in between.
