Review: (#1) As crisp as the colors are, the inability to distinguish this from myriad other posters for films across the recent expanse of film history makes it a dispiriting design. (#2) While it might not precisely connect the title of the film to the tarot card of the same name, it’s visually and creatively a more distinctive and visually interesting piece.

(#3) An interesting take on the tarot elements of the film’s name, but using an image typically restricted to the hanged man when the film’s title is about the Knight of Cups is a bit misguided and ill-informed.

Review: Terence Malick is nothing if not a visual marvel. This sumptuous trailer is a feast for the eyes, conveying his always-fascinating photographic sensationalism. The plot doesn’t quite live up to that colorful inventiveness, but that may not be necessary to draw cineastes to the theater.

Oscar Prospects:

Terence Malick films are always contenders for Best Cinematography even if the film earns poor notices. This one hasn’t gotten the best notices, so it’s probably out of most competitions, but its cinematography is still a potential.
