Review: (#1) The stained-glass motif plays well into not just the religious nature of the holiday season, but of the church scene in the film in particular. It’s a mildly inventive design choice. (#2) What’s not inventive is the Superbad kind of style to this second design which just isn’t that impressive. (#3) The font gives it a boost, but it’s still not much better than its predecessor.

Trailer Rating: B- / C+

Review: (#1) The General Audiences trailer has a lot of simple humor, but makes the film look like it might be genuinely funny. That’s what audiences tend to agree with even if critics don’t. (#2) On the other hand, the Red Band trailer, which sticks in a lot more gratuitous drug use and significant use of the word “fuck,” isn’t that clever, isn’t as funny as the prior trailer and ultimately doesn’t justify the need for such a trailer.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
