Weinstein sends out their second screener of the year.
Southpaw
Stars: Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Naomie Harris, Oona Laurence, Rita Ora, Forest Whitaker, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Skylan Brooks, Victor Ortiz, Beau Knapp, Miguel Gomez, Dominic Colon, Malcolm Mays
Director: Antoine Fuqua
Premise: From IMDb: “Boxer Billy Hope turns to trainer Tick Wills to help him get his life back on track after losing his wife in a tragic accident and his daughter to child protection services.”
Oscar Chances: Doubtful: Critics weren’t impressed by much of the film, though they agreed Jake Gyllenhaal gave a strong performance. That may not be enough for the Academy with such stiff competition in Best Actor.
