Arrived last week from Participant Media.
The Look of Silence
Director: Joshua Oppenheimer
Premise: From IMDb: “A family that survives the genocide in Indonesia confronts the men who killed one of their brothers.”
Oscar Chances: Good: Oppenheimer’s predecessor, The Act of Killing, had a good run through the critics awards and earned an Oscar nomination. Unfortunately, it’s unique approach to documentary filmmaking didn’t quite gel with Academy voters who opted instead for 20 Feet from Stardom. The same could very well happen this year.
Campaign-Proposed Categories:
- Best Documentary Feature
Rotten Tomatoes:
97% (96 critics; as of 10/27/15)
Metacritic:
92 out of 100 (29 critics; as of 10/27/15)
