Poster Rating: C- / C / D / D+ / C- / D+ / C+
Review: (#1) Action heavy, but devoid of excitement or creativity. This is the kind of design you expect for a film that will bypass theaters entirely and go direct to video on demand.
(#2) A more commonplace design, but it doesn’t have a lot of visual flair and the cool colors just don’t enliven it. (#3) Interesting only for having the protagonist and his family cramped into a small space within a large group makes things seem a bit tense, even if the rest of the design feels vacant. (#4) Another actiony design that does an adequate job of the setting the stage, but nothing too notable.
(#5) The buildings form the shape of a gun. Look how clever we are. Just like the black-white-and-red designs of the past that had become so tedious, these types of silhouettes are quickly becoming grating. (#6) More of the same tilted action elements that don’t really look different enough from what else is already out there. (#7) The only truly creative design of the bunch, but it doesn’t seem sufficiently thematic.
Trailer Rating: B
Review: The editors do a good job of conveying the dire stakes at play here, setting this up as a daring escape film as crises and danger surround our hero and his family.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
