Synopsis:
From IMDb: “Afshin Ghaffarian risks everything to start a dance company amidst his home country of Iran’s politically volatile climate and the nation’s ban on dancing.”
Poster: C+ / C (3) / B
Review: (#1) It has a simple beauty, but the simplicity makes it also a touch bland. (#2-#4) These three designs share a motif that fits the film’s title, but only barely recognizes that there’s dancing involved. (#5) This embodies the film very well, taking the best elements of both the first and subsequent designs.
Trailer: B+
Review: The trailer establishes itself as an important cultural touchstone for any place in the Middle East where creative pursuits, like dancing, are forbidden for reasons that seem nonsensical to those of us living within cultures that embrace it. That modern relevance gives the trailer impact.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
