Release Date:
January 30, 2015
Synopsis:
From IMDb: “A group of teens discover secret plans of a time machine, and construct one. However, things start to get out of control.”
Poster: B / C
Review: (#1) I was torn on the rating for this one. The lack of exceptional detail almost resulted in a lower review, but ultimately it’s visually exciting enough to engage an unfamiliar viewer, which could be all the film needs to succeed. (#2) Meanwhile, a second design tries to avoid the sci-fi nature of the concept and instead paints the film as a young thriller with lots of action. It’s entirely misleading based on what’s available in the trailer.
Trailer: B / B+
Review: (#1) This first trailer sets the story up fine, but plays with the narrative in a linear manner, which might help explain the plot, but does nothing to make it feel as urgent as the second design (#2) This one focuses less on the details and more on the repercussions. While both establish that the film tackles the concept of time travel as a short-term gain, but a long-term loss, this second trailer does a better job of raising the stakes to a point of making the film feel crucial.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
