Synopsis:

From IMDb: “In a Russian coastal town, Kolya is forced to fight the corrupt mayor when he is told that his house will be demolished. He recruits a lawyer friend, Dmitri to help. But the man’s arrival brings further misfortune for Kolya and his family.”

Review: Using a still image from a trailer is only tantalizing if you know people have seen the trailer. In this case, it’s not very likely. Apart from that, the lettering is indistinct and the overall appearance isn’t something particularly memorable.

Trailer: B-

Review: You would think that with a film with this much critical acclaim that it would look so much more appealing. Yet, this trailer presents the film as a commonplace crime thriller with a mouth full of dentures.

Oscar Prospects:

It’s Russia’s submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language film and it made the finalist stage. It could very easily be one of the year’s five Oscar nominees, though a win doesn’t seem likely given the competition.
