Review: (#1) As teasers go, it’s not that impressive. For fans of the franchise, it’s probably significant. For everyone else (and possibly even some fans), it isn’t.
(#2) I know the theme of this final film is family, but this seems like a shameless design intended to capitalize on the death of one of the stars. It’s bland either way.
(#3-#5) There’s really not much to these new posters. They share similar design constraints, link back to previous films’ designs and just seem to be a wholly lackluster bunch.
Trailer: B / B+
Review: (#1) The key signature of the Fast & Furious franchise is the car-based action sequences. They open this trailer with quite an impressive one, which will no doubt secure the admiration and attendance of die-hard fans. I don’t know if it can reach out past the brand, but it’s a noble effort.
(#2) The energy isn’t as high as the first trailer, but a better view of the plot is evident. That gives the film some purpose and direction when it would otherwise just be another in a successful franchise.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
