Release Date:

Synopsis:
From IMDb: “A veteran secret agent takes a young upstart under his wing.”
Poster: C+ / A- / B+ / C+ (6)
Review: (#1) As a teaser, it’s adequate. There’s plenty to look at. However, as a genuine sales tool, it’s a bit lifeless and avoiding any of your human characters diminishes its capability to sell the movie.
(#2) Visually stunning, complex and fairly original for modern poster design. It has plenty for the viewer to look at while telling us enough about its slick production values. (#3) Not as inventive as poster #2, this design is nevertheless visually attractive and worth examining. (#4-#9) The design is borderline sexist, hearkening back to many spy thrillers of old where our hero would be seen through the legs of a woman, hinting at their eventual sexual congress. Here, the woman is a double-amputee with metal blades for feet. It doesn’t entirely eliminate the sexism, but it does take a new perspective at it.

Review: This is one of two trailer I typically see for this film. The first is more of a teaser. This one sets the stakes, produces the primary characters and provides just enough coolness that it might appeal to a wider audience. It’s not quite enough, but it’s a solid foundation.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
