Synopsis:

From IMDb: “A young woman goes on a 1,700 mile trek across the deserts of West Australia with her four camels and faithful dog.”

Poster: B+ / C+ / B- / C-

Review: (#1) The isolation is perfectly realized in this poster that pits a young woman against the harsh realities of the scorching desert. It’s not the kind of design that people ooh and ahh at, but it’s a better design than a lot of the ones that do get that treatment. (#2 & #3) Variations on a theme characterize the subsequent three designs. I’m highlight the second and third designs specifically because they are nearly identical in terms of placement, arrangement and visual aesthetic. The differences are largely in the muted colors in the third design and the red dress of the second design. This gives the third poster a leg-up since such an outfit seems unlikely to be worn in this film and puts it at odds with the film’s themes. (#4) This one uses the same colorations as the second design, but removes the camels in favor of the romantic angle, which seems to be a small part of the film as a whole.

Trailer: B

Review: The introspective nature of the film comes through quite well in this trailer design. While there are some segments that seem out of place (namely the derivative romance), it seems like a largely thought-provoking outing.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
