The last screener to come in before the voting deadline (barely making it), is Alexander Payne’s black-and-white Nebraska
Nebraska
Stars: Bruce Dern, June Squibb, Will Forte, Stacy Keach, Bob Odenkirk
Director: Alexander Payne
Premise: From IMDb: “An aging, booze-addled father makes the trip from Montana to Nebraska with his estranged son in order to claim a million dollar Mega Sweepstakes Marketing prize.”
Oscar Chances: Good: Although, the film isn’t based on an Alexander Payne screenplay, there’s every reason to believe the film will follow in the path of his previous films. While Best Picture may not be assured, it looks like Bruce Dern should get a nomination as well as June Squibb and the screenplay is likely to get nominated. Other nominations may be a bit tougher to get.
