The Academy dumping three press releases in the span of one day seems like a rather desperate, last-minute thing. Slow, methodical releases of information are preferred to this onslaught. Here are three more articles on presenters, events and hosts.

Oscarยฎ Producers Name Performers in Celebration of Musicals of the Last Decade

Beverly Hills, CA – Academy Awardยฎ winners Jennifer Hudson, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Russell Crowe join this yearโ€™s Oscarยฎ nominees Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway along with Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, and Helena Bonham Carter in a celebration honoring movie musicals of the last decade, show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced today.

“We are pleased to have been able to amass so much talent to create the celebration of musicals of the last decade that we envisioned,โ€ said Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. โ€œWe are thrilled that so many talented actors have agreed to bring our vision to life.โ€

Earlier this month, the producers announced a planned tribute recognizing the resurgence of musicals over the past decade with performances highlighting โ€œChicago,โ€ โ€œDreamgirlsโ€ and โ€œLes Misรฉrables.โ€

Hudson, Zeta-Jones, Jackman, Hathaway, Crowe, Seyfried, Redmayne, Barks, Tveit and Bonham Carter join a stellar list of previously announced performers including Adele, Dame Shirley Bassey, Norah Jones and Barbra Streisand and presenters including Jennifer Aniston, Michael Douglas, Jamie Foxx, Paul Rudd, Salma Hayek Pinault, Melissa McCarthy, Liam Neeson, John Travolta, Ben Affleck, Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Mark Wahlberg, Ted and “Marvel’s The Avengers” cast members Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Chris Connelly to Welcome Oscarsยฎ Red Carpet Guests

Beverly Hills, CA – Academy Awardยฎ nominees, presenters and performers arriving on the red carpet on Oscarยฎ Sunday, February 24, will be greeted by entertainment and sports reporter Chris Connelly, the Academy announced today. This will be Connellyโ€™s first stint as the Academyโ€™s red carpet greeter.

Connellyโ€™s celebrity chats will be streamed live in the Backstage Pass on Oscar.com and the official Oscars App. The interviews will also be audible to the thousands of bleacher fans and arriving guests.

Connelly is a reporter for ESPN and a contributor on pop culture to ABC News, where he frequently interviews filmmakers and actors. From 2000 to 2007, he was a co-host and interviewer for the official Academy Awards pre-show, duties for which he brought the wrong pants to the show only once. He first covered the red carpet at the Oscars in 1989, for MTV, where he was the host of the networkโ€™s movie show, โ€œThe Big Picture.โ€ From 1987 to 1996, he was an editor and writer for the movie magazine, Premiere.

Stories he has worked on at ESPN have won three Sports Emmysยฎ and six Edward R. Murrow Awards. Since 2006, heโ€™s served as correspondent and host for ESPNโ€™s yearly โ€œMy Wishโ€ series, in collaboration with Make-A-Wish. He was a consulting producer for ESPN Filmsโ€™ documentary series 30 for 30, which won a Peabody Award.
