Commentary About the Weekend

After a Christmas Day result that was the exact reverse for the top 3, The Hobbit reclaimed the number one spot at the box office in its third weekend while the first full weekends of Django Unchained and Les Misérables were a very close second and third place respectively. While none of these results are disappointing, next week will be a test of endurance with a horror film opening wide as the only competition, making it a question of whether the fourth week of The Hobbit or second week of the other two films will be high enough to keep the second reboot of Texas Chainsaw Massacre away from the number 1 spot.

Commentary About the Results

A few studios didn’t report Actual Numbers in the final two weeks of our contest. As such, I was not able to add their corrected values until now. While I haven’t updated last week’s results thread (including the reversing of positions of Skyfall and Monsters, Inc. 3D, this week has been adjusted for the various changes of the last two weeks.
