Tom Cruise couldn’t hold back Martin Freeman as The Hobbit once again dominated the weekend box office, down quite a bit from its first weekend, but not bad considering how many people were doing last-minute Christmas shopping over the weekend and not actively engaged in moviegoing. Cruise’s Jack Reacher had a middling debut followed closely by This 40. Seth Rogen continued to prove he isn’t a box office draw even with the help of Barbra Streisand while the 3D re-release of Monsters, Inc. seems to have been met with a big shrug.
