Last Week’s Results
Ben Affleck made quite an impression on the box office this weekend. In spite of not being the same kind of film to appeal to audiences who made The Town a hit, his piece about the rescue of six hostages from Iran came within $3 million of overtaking Liam Neeson behemoth Taken 2 for the number one spot at the box office. In spite of looking like many other horror films, Sinister still managed to end the weekend just under Argo with a satisfying $18 million. Seven Psychopaths did well in far fewer theaters, creeping into the Top 10 with $4.1 million while the only other new film of the week, conservative Ayn Rand sequel Atlas Shrugged, Part 2 didn’t live up to expectations, failing to even crack the top 10.
