WIDE RELEASES

GET AWAY

THE RETURN

WEREWOLVES

Y2K

Get Away

Wesley Lovell: Nick Frost can be quite funny and this twist on The Wicker Man could be humorous.

Peter J. Patrick: Another cheap horror flick – best to avoid.

Thomas La Tourrette: There is some humor in the trailer, but I have a feeling it will be more bloody than funny.

The Return

Wesley Lovell: This Odyssean story looks rather dull.

Peter J. Patrick: Should be one of the better action films of the year.

Thomas La Tourrette: It actually looks like an interesting take on the end of The Odyssey, though hopefully not too gory.

Werewolves

Wesley Lovell: The effects look cheap and the narrative uninspired.

Peter J. Patrick: A very cheesy looking horror film.

Thomas La Tourrette: It feels like it is trying to take itself too seriously, but looks stupid.

Y2K

Wesley Lovell: It looks to be in the vein of ’80s horror films like Chopping Mall and I’m curious if this nostalgic film will be worth my time.

Peter J. Patrick: Might have been okay in 1999 or early 2000, but why now?

Thomas La Tourrette: It has a retro vibe, but I have a feeling that it will wear out its welcome before the film is done.

LIMITED RELEASES

DEVILS STAY

THE END

F*** MARRY KILL

HARD TRUTHS

NIGHTBITCH

OH CANADA

THE ORDER

SIX TRIPLE EIGHT

UNSTOPPABLE

YOU ARE NOT ME

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: A couple of really strong possibilities but also quite a few that are probably duds.

Peter J. Patrick: Hard Truths is a definite yes, while The End, The Order, Six Triple Eight, and Oh Canada are films I will probably see at some point.ย  Nightbitch I will probably see due to the hype, but I am not looking forward to it.

Thomas La Tourrette: Hard Truths is the one I am most interested in due to what I have heard of Marianne Jean-Baptiste’s performance, though it looks like she plays an unlikeable character. The End and Nightbitch sound intriguing but may not be that good. The Order shows some merit though it may be uncomfortable to watch.
