Review: (#1, C) The subtle imprint of the central character’s husband in the background is a nice touch but it’s a generally static design with the title affectations interesting but inert. (#2-#3, C) These designs are similar enough to not merit individual commentary but the family photo concept is overdone and while it might be a feature of the film, it doesn’t excite.

Trailer Rating: B-

Review: (#1, B-) While it doesn’t generate the kind of tension or suspense that audiences will want, there is enough here to create some measure of interest in the film’s story. Ostensibly about a totalitarian regime, the trailer struggles to quantify the details for anyone not familiar with Brazil’s recent history. While that might build some interest among those who do know the history, that won’t help sell the film to the specialty circuit.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
