Review: (#1, C+) Blending different conceptual styles, this design stands out well. The profile blended with the figure in a heart in the eye adds a certain unique touch. It’s perhaps a bit too bold in its color selection, making it seem more like a Halloween-adjacent film but it’s interesting enough. (#2, C) The positioning is crass and forced, an attempt to put them nose to nose while establishing them as different emotional constants in the design. It’s regimented and clunky with colors that are off-putting. (#3, B) This tells the audience a good deal about the film without making them work for it. Our central figure in the spotlight, the menace behind her, and the period setting of a game show contest. It all pieces together quite easily and for an audience looking for a connection, this design does well at establishing it even with a lot of empty space.

Trailer Rating: B+

Review: (#1, B+) A stunner of a trailer. It doesn’t have any action but has a terrific build-up in tension as the trailer progresses. It doesn’t dig into the story and that’s a problem from a thematic perspective but the building dread certainly makes it feel like it could be an intriguing effort.

Oscar Prospects:

It seems like the kind of film that might make a surprise showing at the Oscars but it’s going to need to overcome a lot of other more prominent films.
