Review: (#1, B) The snowy imprint of the katana blade is a compelling motif and the severed head certainly tells the viewer what to expect. That said, it doesn’t quite tell the audience what type of film it is and if they feel it’s a horror film and it’s a martial arts film, then they might feel betrayed or the right audience might not be reached. (#2, C) This further confuses the situation with this looking like a standard femme fatale action flick and not the revenge thriller the trailer makes it out to be.

Trailer Rating: C- / C

Review: (#1, C-) A hodge podge of action clichรฉs without a plot in sight. This trailer goes 0-to-nuts pretty quickly and the audience doesn’t get much down time. For those who enjoy such things, there will be some appeal but most audiences won’t give it much of a chance.

(#2, C) This action film is struggling to make its premise understandable while also highlighting the necessary action set pieces. It’s a high wire act that’s poorly executed, difficult to follow, and lacks the excitement that could make it a success.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
