Review: (#1, C+) Whether intentional or not, this looks like a Grecian statuary not terribly dissimilar from the design that marks Columbia’s white-clad woman with a torch. The colors may be a bit static but the image is modestly striking in spite of that.

Review: (#1, B-) One woman has to live and succeed in a patriarchal landscape while the other must help ground her while also protecting her from herself. There’s a romantic undercurrent here and although it’s less aggressive in tone than The Favourite, there are some distinct similarities. It could also be seen as a cross between The Favourite and Mary Queen of Scots just in a more modern lens and that would be interesting.

Oscar Prospects:

Could Sandra Hรผller make another Oscar appearance? It’s certainly possible. This has something of a The Favourite vibe, which might hinder her chances. That said, this looks to be far more traditional than Lanthimos’ film, so perhaps more Oscar friendly.
