Review: (#1, C) While this does express the core figure and feeds into the minds of those who fare familiar with him. It is, though, very dull and uninspired. It’s not going to bring in viewers.

(#2-#6, C) This series of character posters is simple but none of them stand out in a striking way, which will make the desire to own them minimal and that defeats their entire purpose of existence. (#7) You couldn’t separate it well from the other character posters and it presents nothing of excitement.

Trailer Rating: B / B- / B-

Review: (#1, B) It’s not clear whether Timothée Chalamet is doing his own singing here but the brief moment when he speaks in a similar cadence gives one hope. Unfortunately, the film doesn’t look nearly as appealing as it should. There is some artistic embellishment that might be compelling if the film maintains that vision.

(#2, B-) We get more of Bob Dylan’s music and lots more of Chalamet’s performance but the biopic structure seems exaggerated and that makes the whole thing feel a bit derivative.

(#2, B-) Getting more of Chalamet’s performance is a good decision. That this tells the viewer almost nothing about the film’s narrative is disappointing. It’s unlikely that this trailer gets people interested in seeing the film any more so than prior efforts.

Oscar Prospects:

James Mangold and Timothée Chalamet working on a project about a young Bob Dylan. It screams Oscar.
