Review: (#1, B-) The missing poster with the tear-off numbers that look real enough to be a potential viral advertising source is an intriguing one. It does some heavy-lifting in terms of setting expectations for this not being your traditional Santa Claus comedy but it doesn’t advertise the presence of its two biggest assets.

(#2, C+) With quite a few details, the design still feels a bit empty .The vacant sidebars add to this effect but so does the minimal usage of the lower half of the design. It still establishes the characters but does nothing to make them exciting within terms of the film. (#3, B-) Eliminating the sidebars and repositioning Saint Nicholas to the lower half helps balance out the design, which makes the emptiness only appearance in the upper half. Focus on the characters isn’t improved much so the end result is an improvement over its predecessor but nothing terribly consequential.

Trailer Rating: C / C+

Review: (#1, C) There are enough months left until release to build excitement for the film but this trailer looks pretty close to a final one, laying out the plot in almost agonizing detail and trying to make it seem edgy and funny while succeeding at neither.

(#2, C+) You get some of the banter, most of the characters, and none of the content. Designed for an audience that doesn’t want to know anything about a movie before going in just that it has people they like in it. In that respect it works but as an effective piece of advertisement, it doesn’t.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
