Review: (#1, C) Minimizing the focal space of the design, the artists create something that draws the eye but provides nothing of visual merit to those looking at the poster. It has the dual effect of bringing attention to the stars without making the film look even remotely interesting.

(#2, C) It has a brightness and natural appeal to it but seems like a pretty standard scene-pull, which makes its use familiar and unattractive.

Review: (#1, C+) There are a few funny moments in the trailer but its premise is vaguely presented and apart from the pull quotes, there’s no genuine sign of why this film merited those quotes.

(#2, B-) The first trailer doesn’t quite get into the concept of the film and that hinders its potential interest. This trailer does a much better job of at least telling the audience who these people are, why they are interacting the way they are, and settling into its concept with light humor designed to alleviate tension but just a pair of potentially unlikeable characters coming to understand one another.

Oscar Prospects:

There is some potential for this film but a lot depends on how well it performs with audiences and critics. Early reviews have been solid, so it’s certainly a possible contender.
