Review: (#1, C+) That white background is awful but the decibel level conceit is interesting as is the reflection of the real subject a nice touch.

(#2, B) You have no doubt that this is a Lego movie and that it stars Pharrell Williams but only because of the title. The content is overwhelming with too many details that blend into one another.

(#3-#12) These generally identical famous figure character designs might elevate the Lego elements but they make for a decidedly dull set of designs.

Review: (#1, B+) It’s an interesting concept and Pharrell Williams’ music keeps the trailer buoyant but will it appeal beyond Williams’ fans? That’s the question the trailer doesn’t quite answer. It could have some appeal with young children, who might just be the perfect target for this tale of rising to prominence in spite of being seen as an odd duck. That is a potent lesson that’s perfect for kids.

(#2, C+) The first trailer had energy and excitement and made the viewer interested in its subject. This trailer digs more into Pharrell Williams’ intent and shows off several of the famous people lending their support but it struggles to find a way to make it all enticing.

Oscar Prospects:

This could be an Animated Feature contender when there seem to be so few major ones out there.
