Review: (#1, C+) The attempt at creative energy in this design with the architect holding aloft a T-square like an umbrella doesn’t speak as efficiently to the film’s premise or setting and the color scheme is nice but unalluring. (#2-#3, C) This pair of efforts are the same but with the annoying bold lettering marring the first design yet the second design doesn’t benefit from the open space.
(#4, B) A design that has a lot of creative energy, using the angles that dominate the trailers. It has a nice color scheme as well. The problem is that it has a lot of empty space that serves no purpose. It does intrigue but not demand commitment. (#5, C+) While it certainly makes the film look unique, it doesn’t give the audience a genuine feel for the type of film they are about to watch. It certainly doesn’t suggest an IMAX viewing is crucial.

Review: (#1, B+) An intense, visually stunning trailer that might struggle to convey its plot adequately but which reminds favorably of 1980s sci-fi spectacle and thus might be able to make a success simply by appealing to the demographic that loves such films. For others, though, it might be a bit too busy visually.
(#2, B) The first trailer has a unique feel to it, giving the audience a glimpse at the compelling futuristic environment in which it takes place. Some of the imagery is a bit clunky and the story is underrepresented but it might create some small bit of interest in the audience for having such a uniqueness. (#3, C+) This trades out all of the unique details of the second trailer for formulaic and uninteresting moments in the third. There’s no sense of the story or why the audience should take an interest in it and that’s not going to make it a popular effort.
Oscar Prospects:
It has to be considered a major Oscar player this year. The early reviews at Cannes are mixed but there were enough generally positive ones to suggest it will still be a contender.
