Review: (#1, B-) This first design is simplistic but creative with the multitudes of different types of weapons coming out the protagonist. It is more striking than expected but its color scheme is too washed out. (#2-#4, C) While these three designs aren’t at all similar, their lack of creative edge bonds them together With the use of off-kilter primary colors making things even less interesting even when popping out. (#5, C-) While the rest of the designs have their issues, none have such a blandly aggressive color scheme as this one with the overbearing titling making it even less appealing.

(#6-#8) This trio of character posters may be in the same vein as prior efforts but don’t add anything measurably either.

Trailer Rating: C+ / B-

Review: (#1, C+) Some audiences, perhaps the ones targeted by this trailer, will appreciate the non-stop action violence and fight sequences but if you’re looking for a plot, there is almost nothing here to engage with that notion.

(#2, B-) The violence isn’t tamed in this second trailer but the narrative is given more emphasis, which makes the action and bloodletting seem more justified. It feels like a cross between Snowpiercer, John Wick, and any number of revenge thrillers out in the world. That derivative nature isn’t forceful enough to dissuade viewership.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
