Dune: Part Two‘s second week atop the box office will face only one major challenger: Kung Fu Panda 4. The second and third films didn’t do as well as the first and sequel fatigue is sure to hit it a bit harder. Opening less than the third film could imperil its box office chances, so we’ll just have to see if Chalamet can topple Black.

OTHER RELEASES

We are only looking at films that have had trailers released on Rotten Tomatoes’ trailer YouTube Channels. Below are some other films that are releasing this weekend that we haven’t considered.

5lbs of Pressure (Limited)
The Ballad of Davy Crockett (Limited)
The Longest Goodbye (Limited)
Night Shift (Limited)
The Primevals (Limited)
Unfriending (Limited)

WIDE RELEASES

CABRINI

IMAGINARY

KUNG FU PANDA 4

Cabrini

Wesley Lovell: Not terribly interested in this figure or this movie.

Peter J. Patrick: Releasing on International Women’s Day, this bio of Mother Cabrini, the first American saint, will probably come and go without much fanfare but could have a second life in streaming.

Thomas La Tourrette: The trailer seems too stiff and pompous to gain much interest in the feature.

Imaginary

Wesley Lovell: There might be some promise but I’m not convinced by the trailer.

Peter J. Patrick: This week’s horror film looks like a poor child’s version of Child’s Play.

Thomas La Tourrette: The upcoming IF might be more my style for a film about imaginary friends than this horror one.

Kung Fu Panda 4

Wesley Lovell: I love this series but the fourth film doesn’t look that great.

Peter J. Patrick: Not really my cup of tea, but it doesn’t look too bad.

Thomas La Tourrette: It has been a fun series, but seems to be running out of juice.

LIMITED RELEASES

ACCIDENTAL TEXAN

AMERICAN DREAMER

GLITTER & DOOM

LOVE LIES BLEEDING

RICKY STANICKY

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: None of these are terribly exciting, though American Dreamer, Glitter & Doom, and Ricky Stanicky have promise, each in different ways.

Peter J. Patrick: There are no stinkers in this group at all. Accidental Texan and American Dreamer look like films worth seeking out. The others are serious maybes.

Thomas La Tourrette: At best a mediocre set of films. Glitter & Doom about a love affair set to Indigo Girls songs is the only one that looks passably decent. Love Lies Bleeding has good reviews but I just did not find it appealing.
