Review: (#1) There’s nothing compelling about this design, though it might elicit some vague interest from those noting the subtle sexiness of the figure. (#2) We’ve seen reflective designs like this before, but the potency of the tagline gives it added depth. (#3) The kaleidoscopic effect, while thematically fitting, doesn’t excite. (#4-#9) While a film like this doesn’t seem like it would benefit from character posters, it nevertheless makes the most of it, with each getting a unique color treatment and an appropriate image from the film to give it depth. (#10) The empty background is a detriment, but the tear-stained affectation is a nice touch.
Trailer Rating: B+ / C+

Review: (#1) A riveting trailer with a magnetic central character that certainly creates stylistic flourishes to set it apart from other films. There is a notable lack of purpose on display, which could hinder its appeal, but it’s the kind of trailer that fans of Promising Young Woman are sure to appreciate.
(#2) The insistence of the first trailer is drowned out in the second trailer by trying to put forward what the narrative is about and losing itself in the process. Keeping things abstract, but intriguing might have made this effort a bit more interesting.
Oscar Prospects:
Emerald Fennell’s debut feature was a major Oscar contender and almost won Carey Mulligan her long-deserved Oscar and early buzz on this one suggests she’s in the conversation again.
