Often a better predictor than the WGA (because of the guild’s arcane rules), this is the place to look at for a carry-over to the Oscars. Though, the overlap is minimal this year, so if they go off the beaten path, it might be interesting.

Wesley Lovell: There are three Oscar nominees on this list. Living, Top Gun: Maverick, and Women Talking. Of those three, Women Talking is the most likely to win at the Oscars, so it could be the frontrunner here. That said, I’m going to go with a left-field choice for runner-up: She Said. Until the film landed with a thud, it was picking up traction as a primary contender for Best Adapted Screenplay. It even got cited at BAFTA, so I suspect there’s a lot of love for the film. Then again. Kazuo Ishiguro is beloved, so Living could easily triumph in a surprise win.
Peter J. Patrick: The library’s award will go to Women Talking without much competition.
Tripp Burton: No predictions provided.
Thomas LaTourette: Unless momentum has totally turned away from Women Talking, it should easily win this award. Its closest competitor at the Oscars, All Quiet on the Western Front, is not nominated, and none of the others seem likely to supplant it.
