With the soft openings of last week, Magic Mike’s Last Dance should be able to take the top spot. While it’s sure to have some diminishing returns being the third film in the series, it could still perform better than any of this week’s films.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It looks very familiar and that doesn’t excite me. More of the same is always a reason for concern, though are a few elements that suggest there might be something slightly different about this one.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Jena Malone, Danny Huston, and Janet Suzman give this one more class than most recent horror films.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): There have been a lot of religious horror movies lately, and while this does succeed in looking different, I am not that inclined to want to see it.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I haven’t seen either of the two prior films and this doesn’t make me want to see them in preparation.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Soderbergh’s first theatrical release in five years is sure to be a box-office hit, but will it be any good? Dunno.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The series has always boasted nice man flesh gyrating in unexpected ways, though this sounds like the weakest entry due to its reviews.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): My curiosity would get the better of me on this one as it’s not clear what strange situation these characters face.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): A nice surprise, a second horror film this week that looks fairly decent.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer gives away too little to make it seem interesting. It would have benefitted more from showing more. There is a hint about diseases, but I know more from reading about it than from the trailer.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It’s compelling for the cast alone, though the premise doesn’t seem that inventive.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Good cast seems to be floundering in so-so thriller.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It boasts an impressive cast, but the thriller looks muddled and I am not sure why I should care about any of these people.
