95th Oscar Nominations

A couple of big surprises. The whisper campaign for Andrea Riseborough paid off, but at the expensive two Black actors (Viola Davis & Danielle Deadwyler). Top Gun: Maverick didn’t make it into Cinematography, one of its strongest chances at a win. Decision to Leave wasn’t nominated for Best International Feature. Beyond that, there were minor surprises everywhere such as the reception of Triangle of Sadness, the success of Michelle Williams in spite of her category fraud, Tár doing well, Everything Everywhere All at Once largely exceeding expectations, and Women Talking barely making it into the Best Picture race. That’s all I really have to say at this point. It appears I did decently well this morning in a lot of categories, but really badly in a handful of others.
