Poster Rating: B; C+

Review: In-jokes mixed in with the clutter make this one of the week’s best entries, but not one of the best of the year. It’s relatively simple and somewhat safe, but the skull adds such a nice touch that I find I like it more just because of that.

Certianly not the clever dressing room intrigue of the original poster, but it’s eye-catching and daring enough to bring an audience in.

Trailer Rating: B+

Review: If it weren’t for Steve Coogan, I think this trailer would have been a riot. His style isn’t terribly exciting, but the premise certainly is. When I saw this trailer for the first time in the theater, I laughed a few times; however, those around me didn’t laugh nearly as frequently, so its appeal is certainly not going to be younger audiences, though there are elements in the trailer that suggest that’s the direction it’s going.

Oscar Prospects:

I can’t really see this as being an Oscar contender. A screenplay nomination, sure, but anything else is a significant stretch.
