The Los Angeles Film Critics Association have tried to one-up the New York Film Critics Circle in just how far outside the mainstream they can go. This time, they have given all but five awards to either non-English language films or documentaries or (in the case of Flee), both. Whether they are just saying it was a bad year for American films or they are just being contrary, it’s hard to know, but I don’t expect they’ll matter much in the long run.
