Precursor: 26th Satellite Awards Nominations (2021)

With many conventional wisdom picks, the Satellite Awards have largely confirmed a lot of what we’ve been discussing as contenders this year. Late release films like West Side Story were clearly not screened for this group, so there’s still room for volatility. The only surprising thing on this list is how well tick, tick…BOOM! performed. It wasn’t a film many thought would be a player, but the International Press Academy sure thinks so. Anyway, Belfast and The Power of the Dog tied with a staggering 13 nominations each while Dune did dutifully well with its dominance of the craft categories.
