Review: (#1) Too simplistic. It makes a statement without creative energy, which isn’t the greatest kind of statement.
(#2) A weak balance of images with a cool and warm color feel that don’t quite seem to fit well together. (#3) While the warm reds and cool blues are still present in this revised design, the softness of it makes everything feel more compelling. (#4) The overused shattered glass motif, although tying directly into the film itself, just doesn’t work here, especially with the poor color use.
Trailer Rating: A / B+

Review: (#1) As always, Edgar Wright’s films look amazing in previews. With the slow tempo “Downtown” as a framing device, the trailer hits all of its story beats and creates a compelling air of suspense and the style seeping from the edge of each frame will make this a must see, perhaps even for more than just Wright fans.
(#2) While the second trailer doesn’t have the hypnotic creativity of the original, this second trailer keeps the stylistic tone while giving more information on the film’s details. Yet, it still struggles to keep the creative energy going for the trailer’s entire length.
Oscar Prospects:
Edgar Wright hasn’t done terribly well with the Oscars even though his films are rather stylish. This could change that as it gives a period setting for the Production Design and Costume Design voters to honor something. Makeup & Hairstyling are also possible, as are Film Editing and Sound, the only categories in which any of his previous films have been nominated (Baby Driver).
