In the first major failure for Nomadland in the cinematography category this year, Mank managed to win out. Of course, Nomadland‘s cinematographer is not a member of the ASC, so there may have been some anti-non-member bias, but we won’t ever know. Of course, ASC does well some years, but utterly fails in others, so this may have no impact whatsoever.
