True to their name, the Alliance of Women Film Journalists has highlighted the best of the year in film with an eye towards recognizing great films by women. Of the five films that tied for most nominations, two are directed by women with three more films by women earning three or more citations. None of those films made their Best Film slate, but at least one made Best Director. Apart from this, their selections are largely on track with the rest of the season with more focus on female filmmakers than most other critics groups.
