Review: (#1) Normally, this color scheme feels cheap, but it somehow feels stylish and fitting employed here.

(#2) The only real difference between the prior poster and this one is that we can now see Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen’s feet. The PhotoShopping becomes even more apparent as Mirren’s feet don’t look like their own. Hell, they don’t even look real. That her feet are also on a slightly higher elevation than McKellen’s, the whole thing looks off-kilter and that’s distracting.

Review: (#1) This is the kind of movie that trailers have always struggled to sell. It’s mostly a character drama with a lot of twists and turns that cannot be revealed in a trailer. That said, the creators did a tremendous job selling this with the intense cuts, the driving score and two central actors whose mere presences can elevate any film.

(#2) Whoever is making the trailers for this film need to do more trailers. The taut suspense of this trailer keeps the energy movie until the final frame. It gives nothing away, but builds immense interest. And the musical selection is pitch perfect.

Oscar Prospects:

Bill Condon’s new film could be an Oscar contender. With the likes of Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren on board, it could be quite the explosive player.
