Review: (#1) Without watching the trailer (or having read the book), this image will have zero impact on your interest in the film. For those who have (seen the trailer or read the book), it carries a certain poignancy with it.

(#2) Perhaps this design will have some importance to those who’ve read the book; however, from a pure design perspective, it’s vacant and uninteresting.

Review: (#1) While the trailer is, essentially, a Point A to Point B series of images, there’s a haunting, mournful quality, a feeling embellished by the music, to the entire thing, which makes it compelling.

(#2) The impact of the first trailer isn’t entirely lost in the second, but the breadth of the second is perhaps too broad, making it hard to understand all that’s going on with a measure of interest and certainty needed to make it a cinematic draw.

Oscar Prospects:

This could be one of the year’s major Oscar contenders.
