Review: (#1-#2) This pair of movie posters are surprisingly dull for a Quentin Tarantino film. While it might draw audiences hungry to see DiCaprio and Pitt together on screen, that’s its only real appeal.

(#3-#6) This series of posters hearkens back to the days of cinema in which this film is set and genuinely recreates some familiar designs with new characters and titles. It’s an interesting choice that works out fairly well.

(#7) Lots of details and a throwback to the period in which the film is set. This is the near-perfect embodiment of the film.

Review: (#1) Apart from this being a new Quentin Tarantino film, the trailer doesn’t do enough to hype the audience into wanting to see it. The comedy is weak and the promise of violence isn’t there, nor is the reference to Charles Manson. The film does do a superb job trading on the film’s nostalgia.

(#2) The first trailer was more of a teaser. This second is more of a full explanation of the premise along with limited, but compelling nods to the Sharon Tate incidents. It should prove quite the engaging story.

Oscar Prospects:

Quentin Tarantino has been an Oscar player since his sophomore effort, Pulp Fiction. While he had a string of non-contender, his last three films have all been major Oscar contenders. This time out, he has an opportunity to finally pick up that Best Directing trophy he’s always wanted along with several other key nominations.
