Review: (#1) An atypical poster color, though the lack of detail and vacant space aren’t pretty. (#2) There’s more detail here, but it’s still a somewhat unappealing design. (#3-#8) These character posters are unique and colorful, but otherwise dull.

(#9) Using a vacant background, even in an atypical color, doesn’t embellish the design and the foreground is a wee bit too chipper for its own good.

(#10-#19) This series of character posters have dull backgrounds and are barely distinct from one another making them all run together. (#20) Four colors and four characters. They match, but to what point when it’s all so boring. (#21) More abysmal background selections and while the cute dolls are there, they aren’t interesting.

Trailer Rating: B- / B / C / C+

Review: (#1) The concept is compelling, but the trailer’s execution is bland showing us a film that could be fun, but could just as easily be terrible.

(#2) Now that we know more about this being a musical animated feature, it does seem a little more enticing. We’ve got a bit more of the same and some childish platitudes, but it seems to have a bit of potential.

(#3) A brief hint of the musical that’s supposedly at the core of the film is all the audience gets and what remains looks to be a crassly animated, cheaply meaningful storyline.

(#4) Another trailer with a small amount of music, but at least referencing to the comedy-musical element. That doesn’t help sell the movie, though, as this is another trailer that just doesn’t seem that fun.

Oscar Prospects:

It’s an original animated film, which gives it a leg up in the Oscar race, but it’s also by a studio that doesn’t have the best track record for nominations.
